Lifting Weights Is Not Optional!

Being strong isn’t something for the few; it’s for the masses.⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The health benefits associated with lifting weights are so important, we can’t ignore them. From improved bone density to a decreased likelihood of injury, resistance training is a necessity at all ages.

Below is a list of just 3 things lifting weights can do for longevity:

1. Higher muscle mass is directly linked to a lower risk of premature death. Studies show that older adults with greater muscle mass have reduced mortality rates from all causes, even when accounting for other health factors like body fat percentage and cardiovascular risk.

2. Muscle mass combats age-related decline and chronic disease. As we age, we naturally lose muscle mass and strength, a process called sarcopenia. Maintaining muscle mass through resistance training and adequate protein helps to improve metabolic health, reduce systemic inflammation, strengthen bones and mitigate the risk of osteoporosis and fractures, improve balance and coordination, significantly lower the risk of falls and support the immune system by storing essential amino acids.

3. Benefits that extend beyond just physical strength and mobility,

but equal quality of life. The stronger you are, the better you are able to function. Do you want to be able to do your activities of daily living and activities of daily interest for the next year, or the next 10 years?

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Remind yourself: There is never a bad time to get stronger, and there is

never a better time than now. If you're ready to get stronger now, let's chat.
